There's a lot of things you can call Clint Eastwood. Actor, movie star, director, musician, Oscar-winner ... and on May 31, octogenarian. That's right, the seemingly ageless action star is turning 80 years old. Having seen him in last year's 'Gran Torino,' still growling like Harry Callahan on a good day, it's hard to believe that he's not as formidable a presence on screen as he's ever been. Calling Clint Eastwood a legend, frankly, sounds like an understatement.

To honor the prolific career of Clint Eastwood,Turner Classic Movies will devote the day to him. On May 31, the network will give us 24 hours of Eastwood, including 'The Eastwood Factor,' a documentary that has previously only been available as part of the boxed set 'Clint Eastwood: 35 Films.'

Morgan Freeman, recently nominated as Best Actor in the Eastwood-directed 2010 film 'Invictus,' narrated the documentary. Film critic Richard Schickel wrote and directed it.

On May 31, the marathon will begin -- at 6 AM -- with a comedy. That's Clint as Carol Channing's leading man in 'The First Traveling Saleslady.' The other films in the marathon include: 'A Fistful of Dollars,' 'For a Few Dollars More,' 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,' 'Hang 'Em High,' 'Where Eagles Dare,' 'Kelly's Heroes,' 'Dirty Harry' and 'Magnum Force.' For Clint's sake, 'Pink Cadillac' was not included.

This is a terrific selection of Eastwood films, although it really cover the earliest part of his career, in particularly the spaghetti westerns and two Dirty Harry movies. You could probably devote three or four marathons to Eastwood without hitting too many clunkers -- like 'Pink Cadillac' -- especially in the last fifteen years with 'The Bridges of Madison County,' 'Unforgiven,' 'Million Dollar Baby,' 'Mystic River' and the aforementioned 'Gran Torino' and 'Invictus.'
