Spyro fans will have to wait just a few weeks more than originally planned to play Toys for Bob's reimagined take on the first three Spyro adventures.

Toys for Bob studio head Paul Yan has confirmed in a blog post that the Spyro Reignited Trilogy for PS4 and Xbox One will now be released on Nov. 13. Toys for Bob and publisher Activision originally had the trilogy collection scheduled for a Sept. 21 release.

Yan, who previously spoke to IGN about recapturing the magic of the original Spyro games, said the team is "deeply committed to getting these games right" and that the delay is because "the Trilogy needs more love and care."

Yan's full statement reads:

"Everyone here at Toys for Bob is so proud to be reigniting the original Spyro trilogy after all these years. We're deeply committed to getting these games right, so we’ve decided to move the release date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy to November 13, 2018. I really hoped that you would be rescuing dragons and scorching Rhynocs sooner, but the Trilogy needs more love and care.  In November when you’re exploring the Dragon Realms, Avalar and the Forgotten Worlds, we know you’ll agree the extra time was worth the wait.

Activision also released its own statement about the delay, citing the need for additional polish on all three games so that the trilogy "not only lives up to fans’ expectations, but our own incredibly high standards."

"Spyro fans deserve the best game possible, so we've decided to take some extra time to polish all three games and deliver the definitive Spyro collection on our new launch day, November 13, 2018," Activision's statement reads.

Fans also recently discovered the second and third games in the Trilogy will require a download of some kind to play. IGN has confirmed the Trilogy will still require a day 1 download patch, however the exact nature of what the download includes at this time is unknown — when first discovered weeks ago, Activision referred to the practicing of there being a download after purchase as a "quite common" practice.

The news comes shortly after Spyro's San Diego Comic-Con showing, which confirmed the return of original composer Stewart Copeland for a new piece of Spyro music. IGN also recently saw more levels from across the trilogy at a recent preview event, and you can look forward to impressions next week.
